Commissioned by NorthVoice, the chamber choir of Council Rock High School North, conducted by Ryan Carlin. The poem by Mark A. Boyle is in response to the students in the choir’s feelings about returning to singing after being quarantined by the COVID pandemic of 2020. The students spoke of their joy of returning to in-person singing, especially singing the Lutkin, “The Lord Bless You and Keep You” in the hallway under the stairwell. Peter quotes Lutkin with the text “give you peace”. A powerful piece with a short aleatoric section singing “I reach out with my voice”.
